DR. WANDA C. STUTTS
Dr. Wanda C. Stutts of Mooresville serves as chairperson and associate professor of nursing at Appalachian. She holds a Ph.D. in nursing with a focus on health promotion from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Master of Science in nursing – adult health nursing with role development in education and Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. She received a diploma from Davis Hospital School of Nursing.
Previously, Dr. Stutts served as professor, associate professor and assistant professor of nursing at Gardner-Webb University in Statesville. She also was the chair of the Davis Nursing Program. At Davis Community Hospital, she was the medical-surgical coordinator and instructor of critical care for the School of Nursing. She also served as head nurse in the medical unit at Huntersville Hospital, staff nurse in the medical unit at Wake Memorial Medical Center and as an office nurse for H.B. Grigsby, M.D.
Dr. Stutts is a member of the American Nurses’ Association, North Carolina Nurses’ Association, Mu Psi At-Large Chapter of Sigma Theta Tau, Alpha Sigma Lambda and ADN Advisory Board at Mitchell Community College.
Having published numerous articles, participated in various research activities and presented at several venues, Dr. Stutts has received a number of academic honors including the 2006 Student Award for Teaching Excellence and the 2005 Alpha Sigma Lambda Faculty Award for Excellence.
